Optimize your basic surgical techniques. For veterinarians and technicians.
Surgical Site Infections (SSI) are a burden to the practice of surgery. They lead to increased hospital stay, extended use of antimicrobials, extra wound care all resulting in increased cost, unhappy owners and frustrated vets. Although often difficult to treat, most surgical infections are rather easy to prevent. No pathogen has yet developed resistance to proper aseptic technique, and applying the proper basics of surgery are our best tool in the prevention of SSI.
The science and techniques in the basics of surgery have also evolved and up to date methods in surgical preparation of personnel and patients are now available.
This one-day course aims at refreshing old and introducing new concepts and techniques in SSI prevention. It is directed to the entire veterinary team, both surgeons and technicians, since it will only be together that we will succeed.
